Goodbye Preschool

It is hard to believe that my "baby" is done with preschool and moving on to kindergarten. He has truly enjoyed his preschool. Before he started he really did not want to go. Thank goodness he was able to go with Jade. The two of them helped each other out. He grew a lot this year, and has become somewhat independent. His favorite thing about preschool was learning "the Frog Song" and building with blocks and I know he loved making new friends. He is a bit like his mom that way. At the picnic they brought in ponies, goats and bunnies. Preston's favorite was the bunnies, he kept going back over to hold him. The look on his face, was priceless.

Happy Birthday New York

Well it is that time of year again...Birthday or New York, well both. This year for my birthday and for Terrie's (27th) we were told to go to New York. So without any prior planning except for a booked hotel room and some train tickets bought the previous day we headed out.
Again we had a great time! We walked and walked and walked in flip flops and rain. I just kept reminding us both to suck in our gut and butt....we would burn more that way.

We arrived at Penn Station, checked our bags at the hotel and headed for China Town and Little Italy. Now remember we have no plans, no purpose except to have fun. We decide that we will find the little odd things in NYC to see. We saw the statue of Senor Duarte, founder of theDominican Republic, a way cool mural, some random cutout, and some Saint.

No purse shopping but did find some cute sunglasses, a necklace and a baseball cap. We had a slice of pizza and some gelato...yummy. After about 4 hours we decided to head back to Time Square and then made a pitstop down in the fashion district, walked by Macys and managed to get a new pair of pants and a tshirt (much needed due to unfortunate weather.) Then back to the hotel where we soaked our aching, filthy feet, cleaned up and headed to none other than Sbarros for dinner...such a yummy place. Then to Mama Mia. I loved that play. Then some more walking around Time Square. Tire and exhausted at midnight we returned to the hotel. My heavy, almost magnetic hands (I was delirious) found myself asleep rather quickly.

The next day we headed for Greenwich village, on a mission to find the Magnolia bakery-famous for their cupcakes. Found them a few hours later but on our way managed to walk through NYU a childrens science festival and some really quaint little streets. The cupcakes were boxed (4 for $10) and began their (yes the cupcakes) trek back to Manhattan, where we were shocked to be drenched when we walked out of the subway, the poor cupcake box was getting soaked and when the umbrella sales lady took them away I thought she might run. No, she put them in a bag to protect them from the rain, now we had to buy the umbrella, well to speed up some details we end up back on the subway and exit by the Theatre were Rent was playing. Terrie has always wanted to see this, I had no idea except she said I would hate it..but some ladies friends never showed up and at that moment we walked by and she asked if we wanted to buy the tickets for $40 so we did. We saw Rent...I liked Mama Mia.

From there back to the subway we had just left in the pouring rain, up to Serendipities that was way to crowded so an early dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. YUMMY! Then some last minute trips to the M&M store, Hershey Store, Dale & Thomas Popcorn Store (All these a must each time you are there) then off to the train station. Where we finally opened our cupcakes. OOPPPSSS, I think they felt like our feet did.

I did leave out details but I bet you get the meat of it. Had a great time. Thanks for reading.
